Online Casino Sucker Bets — Part II

  • Progressive side bets: Casino games like Caribbean Stud Poker regularly contain one of these. You generally lay a bet (a dollar is the usual amount) to try to win a side jackpot that can be upwards of $25,000. Although huge jackpots like these are very alluring, they’re also very difficult to win. You would need to get a Royal Flush in order to succeed on this bet. Also, think about this- you play twenty hands and make the side wager every time. That’s $20 you could have used towards the actual game bet instead of a sucker wager. Picture what you might have been able to win at a bet with better odds using that $20.
  • Single number bets in Roulette: This is especially true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has 2 0’s on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has only one. This takes the overall casino edge from twopercent with a single zero wheel to a huge fivepercent in American. The single number bet has only a 1 in 38 chance of succeeding, which are very big odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red wagers as a substitute which have a much lower casino advantage.
  • Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you wager on it, the house edge can be a huge 25%. No, that wasn’t a typo. Because of the large amount of numbers you must choose, it’s not recommended to wager on Keno very much. A few times for enjoyment, perhaps. But don’t waste all your cash on it or you’ll quickly find yourself broke.
